From my legal background, I learned to write clearly and concisely (despite the fact that many legal “briefs” are often, quite ironically, hundreds of pages long). As such, I keep my reviews short and to the point. My reviews are numbered lists. Each number coincides with a main point, and then I further elaborate on each of those main points for anyone who want the full breakdown. This way you can either have the CliffsNotes version, or read the entire thing.
What my stars mean:
DNF: Did not finish.
1 cupcake: It was difficult, but I did get through it.
2 cupcakes: I felt like I was missing something and couldn’t fully get into it.
3 cupcakes: It was fine, nothing special.
4 cupcakes: This kept me very engaged and it was a solid read.
5 cupcakes : This was seriously out of this world! Loved everything about it and will recommend it to everyone!
